A CAMPAIGN to promote sustainable transport to residents of Kirkcaldy kicked off this week.

The ‘Try It’ project is being undertaken as part of Make Your Move Kirkcaldy and is one of a number of actions being taken to promote cycling, walking and public transport in the town. Travel advisors will be encouraging residents to consider using more active and sustainable modes of transport when making short journeys to help improve their health and save money on the cost of local travel. Many journeys within Kirkcaldy are over relatively short distances and could potentially be made without using a car.

Every household in the town will also receive a leaflet with advice on sustainable travel. Around half of these households will also be visited by a trained travel advisor from Hyder Consulting. Dave Frew, Service Manager for Transport Networks & Travel Choices, said: “This is a great opportunity for the people of Kirkcaldy to try different ways of getting around the town. I hope lots of people will get involved.”
