CERES residents have stepped up their efforts to see two sets of football goalposts erected on the Bow Butts.
A petition has been circulated urging Fife Council to make its four-week trial of one set permanent — and to install a second set at the other end of the green.
Petition organiser Tanya Gracie said: “We’re hoping the second post will be returned and that the goalposts become a permanent fixture in the village.
“A petition in support of this is now available in various locations locally.
“However, for now, one goalpost is better than none and the local kids have been playing regularly which is lovely to see.”

Kate Hughes, Fife Council’s area service manager for north east Fife, said: “We are aware of the interest that has been generated by putting the goalpost up on the Bow Butts in Ceres.
“As already intimated this is to try and reduce the amount of anti-social behaviour from a few young people.
“As agreed with the community council this is for a four-week trial period, during which time it will be evaluated and near the end of that period we will be speaking again with the community council to determine the most appropriate way forward.
“I hope that the initial interest will continue and local people will play their part in trying to come to an agreement of what is in the best interests of their community.”
