Local children’s cancer charity TCCL Lodge is calling on Fifers for their support in raising much-needed funds to create a holiday home for children with cancer and their families.
TCCL (Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia) primarily helps children across north east Fife and Tayside when they are diagnosed with cancer, and the holiday home in St Andrews, will hopefully be open to families from across Fife and further afield once renovations are complete.
Over the past three years the TCCL Lodge committee have raised an amazing £400,000 which has funded the purchase of a property and some improvements. However, a further £100,000 is needed to help the charity meet its target and this Saturday a ‘Great Ball’ is to be held at the Apex hotel in Dundee in the hope of boosting funds.
An online auction is also underway with a great array of prizes and with the closing date being Thursday at 6pm the charity wants to make sure no-one misses out.
TCCL Lodge chairperson Rosalie Wilkie said: “So far, 10 of the 14 lots have received bids, totalling just short of £1300. This is fantastic, considering we’ve never done this before.”
The items without bids are – a set of Parliament Whiskies – starting at £50, valued at over £80; A Family Portrait with Caroline Trotter – starting at £60, valued at £100; A Boxing Experience for two people – Starting at £100, valued at £250, and a Full Day’s Ancestral Research – Starting at £150, valued at £200.
Rosalie added: “We hoped the auction would raise £1500 and with two days to go, it would be fantastic if we could make our target – we are just £200 short of where we need to be.”
