A number of charities received donations totalling just under £7000 from the Rotary Club of St Andrews.

Representatives of the charities were invited to the Rotary’s weekly meeting where funds raised by the club throughout the year were disbursed.

In welcoming members and guests, vice president Arthur Griffiths reminded everyone that Rotary not only gave donations to projects worldwide but to very worthwhile local causes.

Treasurer Ian Dochard then presented the charities’ representatives with their donation.

Those present were Mrs Birkett, St Andrews Blind Club; Jan Kerr, Homelands Trust, Fife; Ken Cochran, Pilgrim Care, St Andrews; Mrs Robertson-Corbin, St Andrews Tea Party for the Elderly; Jennifer Sibbald, St Andrews in Bloom; Rachel Cheer, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (Rachel House); Louise Duncan, Maggie Centres, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and Kirkcaldy; Gaye Steel, Tayside Children with Cancer & Leukaemia – Lodge Project (TCCL); Gordon McKenzie, Cruse Bereavement Care, Fife; Ray Maclennan, Guide Dogs for the Blind; Roddy McKinnon, Samaritans; Joyce Leslie, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance; Margaret Watson, Mary’s Meals; and Andrew Wright, Tuskinde Children’s Trust Kenya Project.

Donations were also made to the following whose representatives were unable to attend – Freedom from Fistula Foundation, Polio Plus, Kidney Kids, Parkinsons, Literacy Boxes and Rotary Foundation

On behalf of all the recipients of the donations, Mrs Cheer thanked the members of St Andrews Rotary Club for all their continual work raising funds for charitable organisations.
