Over 30 members of St Monans Community Choir recently spent several days in Bremen in Germany – where they performed in two concerts.
The first was at the Remberti residential home, where the group received “a very warm welcome with an appreciative audience”.
The second concert was in the Emmanuel Kirche in the Walle district of Bremen, where the East Neuk singers teamed up with local choir ‘West Voices’.
Each choir performed a half-hour programme and then joined forces for a 70-strong rendition of ‘Sailing’, ‘Drunken Sailor’ and ‘ California Dreamin’ – hailed as great experience for all.
Choir member Ruth Craib said: “Our concert venue was excellent and we all performed to a very large, enthusiastic audience.
“Both choirs went for a meal together afterwards where new friendships were formed.
“We hope some of their choir may visit St Monans in the future.”
Afterwards, the St Monans group received a generous donation to be passed on to a local Scottish charity of its choice.
“We have donated this to Children 1st, a charity which we had recently supported by singing at an event in Elie,” added Ruth.
During its five days in Bremen, the choir enjoyed exploring the beautiful city, with a guided tour of the Rathaus being a highlight.
