A CUPAR man, whose whole family have been involved in fund- raising after his little girl was diagnosed with cancer, is set to embark on a number of activities to raise enough cash to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

Chris and Karen Wroniecki have raised thousands for children’s charities since Summer, now four, became ill.

Thankfully, she is now in remission and, as a way of saying thank-you to all the charities and health services who helped them during their ordeal, Chris is set to scale the African summit in a bid to raise £6000 for CCLASP (Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice and Support for Parents).

Chris’ fundraising agenda begins with a bucket collection at Tesco on Saturday, March 30, followed the next day by a charity Texas Scramble at Cupar Golf Club.

Chris, a keen golfer, said teams of four are invited to take part.

The fundraising drive continues with a race night in Freuchie Bowling Club on Saturday, April 27, and then a ‘Celtic v Rangers’ charity football Match on Sunday, May 5.

As well as the CCLASP fundraising Chris, Karen and a number of friends will once again take part in the 26-mile Kiltwalk challenge, this time in Edinburgh on May 19.

Last year, they raised an astounding £32,000 – half of which went to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

The fundraising for Kilimanjaro continues on Saturday, June 15, when Chris will devote his 40th birthday celebrations to a charity disco.

He said: “All monies raised will go towards the £3000 I have to find for climbing Kilimanjaro in October this year. Based in Edinburgh CCLASP was an amazing source of support when Summer was in hospital and we want to raise money for them so they can continue helping other families. I hope to raise around £6000.”

Chris went on to explain that the 40-strong team climbing the 19,000-feet summit comprises six of his friends,
including local man Alan Wallace from Freuchie.

Anyone who would like to take part in the Texas scramble can call him on 07766665401 or contact Lindsay Sharp, 07825742432.

Anyone who would like tickets for the race night in Freuchie should contact Alan Wallace, 07867228817.
