Students who began at Glenwood High School in 1977 and left around 1981 will be gathering at the town’s CISWO club to catch up and exchange a few recollections of life during and after school.

They will also be remembering one of their contemporaries, Pat Barclay, who sadly died in September.

Marion Brown, one of the main organisers, said Pat had occasionally talked about how good it might be to have a school reunion and catch up with a few former classmates, but the Saline farmer sadly passed away before anything could be arranged.

So the ex-pupils, who turn 51 this year, will be marking 35 years since most of them left school with a special night on Saturday, December 3 in the North Street venue, paying their own tributes to their friend.

Marion said she had been overwhelmed with the reponse and the interest from those wishing to attend, with well over 100 people in the school year at that time.

Marion has opened up her Facebook page for information and set up another one called ‘Glenwood High School Reunion in memory of Pat Barclay’.

In the first part of the evening, from 7pm, she would be welcoming guests while people could “raise a glass to Pat” and talk a bit about their lives since school. Then spouses or partners were welcome to join them from 9pm-1am.
