First year pupils from Waid Academy have been sharpening up their ecological knowledge and making a physical effort at the same time to make the area’s shoreline a little more clean and attractive.

A group of around 60 youngsters has been out and about along East Neuk beaches over the last few days, led by eco co-ordinator and biology teacher Alice Pearson.

The pupils were out at Ruby Bay in Elie on Friday and, on Monday afternoon, they staged a clean-up at Cellardyke, above, after the weather had caused them to divert from their original location in Pittenweem.
