A KIRKCALDY barber was left stunned after a car crashed through the front of his shop on Friday night.
The green Ford was travelling down Kirk Wynd when it was involved in a collision and ended up smashing through the front of the Len Dow barber shop.
Owner Mark Dow rushed to the scene after receiving a call shortly after 9.00 p.m. and was shocked at what he saw.
“I arrived on the scene around 9.30 p.m.,” he said.
“From what I was told the car came down Kirk Wynd and clipped the side of a taxi that was parked outside Wetherspoons.
“Then the car spun out of control and crashed through the front of the shop.
“The car was still there when I arrived and it was pretty mangled, it had gone through the shop window backwards and I heard that the taxi driver was hurt.
“He was standing beside his cab when it was hit.”
The damage to the barbers, one of the town’s oldest, was extensive and though it remains open for business as usual, but Mark, whose father Les opened the shop, said the accident will end up costing him money.
“We’re covered by our insurance but we’ll still be out of pocket.
“The whole front of the shop is going to need to be replaced and there’s some damage to the pillar beside the front door.
“What’s annoying is that I’ll probably end up getting nothing from the driver but there’s nothing I can do about that.
“I’m just glad it happened when we were closed and that no-one was hurt.”
A spokesman for Fife Police said one person from Kirkcaldy had been injured and was taken to Victoria Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
