The coastguard received a call at 3.05pm this afternoon to say two people were stranded on the Elie chain walk, and the Anstruther RNLI all-weather lifeboat and in-shore lifeboat were both mobilised, alongside coastguard rescue crews from St Andrews and Leven, and the rescue helicopter from Prestwick.

A spokesman confirmed that the incident was on-going and the people will receive medical attention.
