Come and join new Burntisland group!

The Burntisland Futures Trust will be an enabling organisation for a wide range of initiatives from advancing education and supporting new businesses to improving public amenities and environmental conservation.

Similar trusts have been successful in other parts of the country, and the Burntisland group aims to act as a catalyst for projects which might otherwise conflict, to ensure a successful result.

Alex MacDonald, chairman of Burntisland Community Council, is one of the founding trustees, along with John Bradshaw, Gordon Langlands and George McLachlan, who are also community councillors.

Mr MacDonald said: “Initiatives such as these will focus exclusively on community regeneration for Burntisland.

Our immediate aim is to get the new trust off the ground, so all four of us will stand down at the inaugural meeting of the Futures Trust, when new office bearers will be elected, so that there is clear and visible independence from the Community Council.

“It’s an outstanding opportunity for new initiatives and new blood. We welcome all expressions of interest and look forward to more discussions with interested people at the inaugural meeting on July 3.”

Meanwhile around 90 per cent of Burntisland households have received their copy of the Burntisland Community Action Plan, and copies are available at the town’s library. The plan will also be available online at the community council website: www.burntislandcc.org.uk.

The plan will be launched alongside the new trust, at the primary school on July 3, from 2-4pm. Groups wishing to promote their ideas and recruit supporters can take a table by e-mailing [email protected].
