Councillors scrap Kirkcaldy town centre discount parking charges

Kirkcaldy town centre’s discount parking charges will end in March.

The initiative launched in 2015 won’t continue into the new financial year which starts on April 1.

Kirkcaldy Area Committee today rubber-stamped a recommendation to stop the lower charges on March 31.

Fifers were offered discount season tickets and two hours of parking for £1 in a bid to bring more people into the town centre.

But while it enjoyed positive support, the increase in numbers hasn’t been sustained.

Councillors plans to look at a new strategy with trasportation officers.
