Charity shop victim of break-in
The front window at the Cancer Research UK shop on the High Street was smashed as the would-be thief broke in to loot the store.
Staff think the culprit was spooked when an alarm went off and left empty-handed despite breaking into a glass case and emptying a jewellery cabinet.

“I think they spooked themselves and made a dash for it.”
Police are now investigating the break-in, which happened at around 7.20am, and trying to establish if anything was stolen.
The spokesman said volunteers had been left shaken and were puzzled why anyone would target a charity shop.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.
