Two arson attack in a week have left the Kirkcaldy club with three potable cabin facilities destroyed.

Three furnished portable cabins, used by Kirkcaldy YM Juniors to entertain visiting teams, have been destroyed, and along with it a large collection of club memorabilia and equipment.

The first attack came on Tuesday evening when arsonists destroyed a changing facility.

Windows to a second cabin were reported to have been smashed on Wednesday, with fire crews called out attend a second blaze between 6pm and 7pm on Friday.

This second incident destroyed a further two cabins, leaving volunteers devastated and forcing the club to rearrange forthcoming fixtures.

“A large part of the club’s facilities have been destroyed and it’s heartbreaking,” said a spokesman for Kirkcaldy YM.

“It’s a major set back but the club will continue, we won’t be deterred by the senseless actions of a few mindless individuals.”

Among items destroyed in the attacks was a large collection of photographs, club strips and other memorabilia, much of which had been donated by former players.

“It’s very sad, we will work to replace the facilities but the memorabilia is now lost and that is very upsetting,” a spokesman added.

The arson attacks are the latest in a string of problems the club has faced in recent months with vandals spray painting dugouts on at least three occasions during the close season.

Police have appealed for anyone with any information regarding the latest incidents to come forward either by telephoning 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
