Jack Gourlay, of Invertiel Terrace, appeared before Sheriff Di Emidio at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Gourlay, (26), previously admitted that between November 19, 2019 and November 22, 2019 at Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy and elsewhere he was concerned in the supply of cannabis, a class B drug, contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

He also admitted that on November 22, 2019 at his home address, he produced cannabis contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. He admitted committing all three offences while on bail.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court: “The accused was stopped in the street and a search was carried out by officers who found a bag of green herbal matter, a grinder, clear bags and scales. He was also found to be carrying an offensive weapon, a baton. These were all in his possession.

"Officers then executed a search warrant for his property where the plants were seized.”

Gourlay’s defence agent said his client was ‘under no illusions’ about the charges he was facing and said he had taken measures to reduce his intake of cannabis. He added that Gourlay would be keen to do hours of unpaid work.

Sheriff Di Emidio sentenced him to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work to be completed in 12 months.
