Cupar bloom group vows to ‘keep on gardening’ after vandals destroy items

Cupar in Bloom members have vowed to “keep on gardening” and told vandals they “will not be put off”.

The warning came after planters and pots on Bonnygate were destroyed by vandals last weekend.

Chairwoman Pat Mitchell said the incident was a “one-off” and the first time their items had been vandalised following a spate of incidents last year, which police helped bring to an end.

“We hope it’s a one-off,” she said. “We know the people in Cupar support us and are appalled by what’s happened. It won’t deter us.

“We won’t stop doing what we do. We will not be put off and we know we have the public’s support.”

The club, which has won various awards for its work, has not done fundraising this year, feeling it would not be fair to ask for sponsorships at a time when others are struggling.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1027 of 26 September, 2020.
