Duo abducted terrified victim

Roseann Browne (41) from Cupar and Stacey Duff (30) of Kirkcaldy went to Rhea Foreman’s home in Dundee hunting for Browne’s son, Jason.

They began shouting at Miss Foreman to let them in as she slept in the flat before starting to kick the door in.

Miss Foreman called 999 as the pair booted the door in before Duff entered, took the mobile from her and tried to smash it to pieces as the frightened victim tried to summon help.They demanded to know where Jason was before frogmarching her from the flat barefoot and wearing only jeans, a bra and a nightgown.

Miss Foreman was then bundled into a car - but before they could drive off police descended and stopped them.

Fiscal depute Saima Rasheed told Dundee Sheriff Court: “Neighbours could see and it was clear she did not want to go with them.

“She was put in the middle seat in the back of the car and all the other seats were occupied - by the two accused and two males.

Ms Rasheed added: “Police arrived at this point and stopped the car leaving.

“They could see the complainer was crying but the accused said she was just upset because she hadn’t seen her boyfriend for three days.

“Police asked for the complainer to get out the car and when she did she told them to ‘get me away from them’.

“Officers entered the building and could see the mortice lock on the door was damaged and found the mobile phone smashed inside on the floor.”

Browne and Duff pleaded guilty on indictent to a charge of abduction committed on July 29 this year in Dundee.

Lawyers appearing on behalf of the two women asked that their bail be continued until a later sentencing date.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael deferred sentence until January for social work background reports.

The pair were released on bail.
