Fife man admitted punching victim on the head to his severe injury

A man who admitted punching another man on the head to his severe injury has been ordered to carry out unpaid work and pay his victim compensation.

David Rennie, of Blair Drive, Dunfermline, appeared before Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Rennie, 27, admitted that on November 10 last year at Blair Drive, Dunfermline he punched a man on the head to his severe injury.

Rennie’s defence agent said his client didn’t intend to commit assault and was extremely remorseful for letting his emotions get the better of him.

However, Sheriff Gilchrist said: “He broke his jaw in two places because he considers he has proprietary rights over a woman he is not in a relationship with and after he assaults him, he says that’s us cool now. It is pretty disgraceful.”

Sheriff Gilchrist ordered Rennie to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work, placed him under supervision for 32 months and ordered him to pay £1500 in compensation to his victim.
