The Adamson family have an outbuilding set back from their property that they use as a workshop and stables. On February 11 it was broken into with a two-stroke KTM-80, belonging to 12-year-old Ramsay Adamson being stolen.

His parents Kirsty and Stewart improved the security measures and bought him a new bike, but now feel they have been deliberately targeted after there was another break in last week.

This one took place at around 3am last Tuesday (May 12) with a four-stroke Stomp 180 and a two-stroke Husqvarna 80 being taken.

Kirsty said: “After the first theft we felt we had just been unfortunate it had happened to us, but now we think we must have been deliberately targeted – all of a sudden after living here for seven years we don’t feel safe.

“After the first theft when we got Ramsay a new bike we took extra precautions and had chained the bikes together around an anvil.

“As such the thieves must have been in there for ages trying to get them free and in the end it appears they dragged them across the floor and used our own grinder to do the job.

“I didn’t hear anything until they revved the bikes up to make their escape. I told my husband to call the police and I ran to the car to chase after them.”

Kirsty was unable to catch up to the thieves, but they came across the Stomp bike which had been undergoing work so had no brakes and Ramsay’s tool bag was also recovered which contained a set of bolt cutters not belonging to him.

Kirsty said: “The thing that really gets me is these bikes are clearly child-sized, what sort of low-lives would steal from a 12-year-old?”

The family are now looking at alternative storage.
