Fife police charge teens over vandalism of 20 cars in Burntisland which caused £2,500 worth of damage

Police have charged two 15-year-old boys over the vandalism of 20 cars in a Fife town.

About £2,500 worth of damage was caused during the incident which involved car tyres being slashed in Burntisland.

The vandalism took place in the James Park, Kirkbank Road, Kinghorn Road and Cromwell Road areas between November 26 and 27.

Following CCTV and door-to-door enquiries, officers charged two teenagers and a report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter.

Community Officer PC Daniel Hatch said: "I'd like to thank the members of the public that assisted with our enquiries.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities. Anyone who has concerns about anti-social behaviour in their area is encouraged to contact police by calling 101 as promptly as possible."

Many residents discovered that they would need to replace multiple tyres on their car the morning after the incident, with others discovering the damage over the course of the weekend.
