Five arrests as some people in Fife break lockdown rules

Police arrested five people in Fife for breaking lockdown rules in the last week.

That’s according to the latest figures issued by Police Scotland on the use of emergency coronavirus powers.

During the week, from May 14 to 20, officers locally made five arrests of those failing to comply with government rules.

While they also issued four fixed penalty notices during that same period.

Across the Kingdom 172 people dispersed after being “informed”, while a further 76 moved on after being “instructed” to do so by officers.

The figures show that although the majority of people in Fife are following the lockdown rules, there are some who continue to break them.

Throughout the lockdown period Police Scotland have been thanking people living and working in Fife for their ongoing commitment to slowing the spread of Covid-19 by staying at home and sticking to physical distancing guidance.

Officers are urging communities to continue adhering to the government’s guidance to protect the NHS and save lives.
