Glenrothes assault: Man admits pushing his partner and behaving in a threatening manner

A Glenrothes man who admitted assaulting his partner and behaving in a threatening manner has been given a 12 month supervision order.

Mathew King, who appeared before Sheriff Alistair Thornton at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, was also instructed to undergo alcohol and drug counselling.

King, 29, of Balfour Gardens, admitted that on August 8, 2020 at an address in Abbotsford Drive, Glenrothes he assaulted his partner and pushed her to the chest.

He further admitted that on the same date, in the same place, he behaved in a threatening manner likely to cause fear and alarm by shouting and swearing.

The court heard that while King’s relationship with his partner had its ups and downs, there had never been police involvement before.

Sheriff Thornton sentenced King to a Community Payback Order with a requirement that he be placed under supervision for 12 months and that he undertake drug and alcohol counselling.
