Hunt for woman who robbed vulnerable elderly man

Police are hunting a woman who robbed a vulnerable elderly man after walking into his own home uninvited.

The incident happened around 11.50am on Wmorning at Farne Court, Kirkcaldy, when a 74-year-old man was at home alone.

An unknown woman entered his home uninvited and took a sum of cash.

The woman claimed she was taking the money in aid of a charity and then left. The 74-year-old was uninjured.

The suspect is described as a white woman in her 50s with grey hair. She was wearing dishevelled clothing and carrying a blue carrier bag.

Police Constable James McDonough of Kirkcaldy CIU said: “We believe this woman purposefully targeted a vulnerable person within their home.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are eager to trace this woman as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Farne Court area around lunchtime on Wednesday, March 1, and recognises the description of the woman, to get in touch with us immediately.”
