Jailed sword attacker tried to sneak drugs and phone into prison
The handover was spotted by Mark Wilson's escort and the phone was seized on his return to HMP Shotts in Lanarkshire.
Wilson (38) of Dysart, appeared via videolink at Hamilton Sheriff Court today and admitted trying to smuggle the items into the prison on September 18 last year.

Hide AdHe is serving sentences totalling 14 years and eight months for attempted murder and serious assault.
Morag McLintock, prosecuting, said Wilson, accompanied by escorts, left the prison to attend a funeral.
She stated: "The witnesses observed a family member passing something to him.
"Back at the prison he was asked to sit on a chair that is used to identify foreign objects and it provided a positive indication.

Hide Ad"Wilson was asked if he had been handed anything at the funeral. He replied 'Aye' and provided a mobile phone.
"Within the phone there was a small brown package containing 0.7g of diamorphine."
Wilson, who represented himself, told Sheriff Douglas Brown he had nothing to say about the offences.
He said he is not due for release until 2032.
The sheriff jailed him for four months with immediate effect.

Hide AdIn 2018, Wilson was jailed for 12 years and co-accused Leeanne Napier got 10 years for attacking a man with a dagger and a sword.
The pair burst into Scott Watson's flat in Miller Street, Kirkcaldy, and inflicted serious injuries on him.
Wilson was also handed a 32-month sentence for stabbing Jennifer Cowan on the leg in Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy, after a dispute over drugs.
