“One of the girls came in this morning at 9am to open up and saw the bottom pane of glass in the door was smashed. She thought maybe someone had just kicked it, but when she came inside and saw the mess we realised it had been a break-in.

“We have spent the whole day cleaning up and have had to close the shop and cancel all the appointments. It’s just heartbreaking.”

Pouts and Pinups employs six full-time and four part-time staff.

Detective Inspector Graeme Dursley from Kirkcaldy CID said: “This break-in has resulted in much of the salon’s stock being stolen and we are actively conducting various inquiries locally to identify the culprits.

“We would also urge anyone who is approached and offered hair products that may have been stolen from the salon to decline and report the matter to us.”
