Kirkcaldy group’s disappointment after weekend plant theft
The colourful begonias and osteospernum, which were planted by a member of the group, which promotes and develops horticultural projects in Kirkcaldy, were taken sometime over the weekend.
Judith Kerr, secretary, described the theft as very disappointing as they were paid for from the group’s own fundraising sales.

“One of our members Avril Moodie planted them and she went down on Friday to water them but when she went back to them on Monday, they had gone. We are trying our best to make the town look nice with what little resources we have, so it just makes it all the more disappointing someone has done this. What is the point in what we are trying to do?
“It wasn’t as if the Council bought these plants and gave them to us, it was money that people gave us in order to do it - the money we got from the sale of wreaths at Christmas was used to buy these plants.”
She added: “When we have so little for all of us this summer, it is really galling that someone is so selfish as to take them for themselves.”
