Man admits assault on paramedic and hitting police officer with mobile phone

A Fife man who admitted assaulting a paramedic and striking a police officer with a mobile phone has had his sentence deferred until later this month.

Roy McKay, of Aithernie Road, Leven, had his case call before Sheriff James Williamson at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

McKay, 39, admitted that on April 15 last year at Glenwood Road, Leslie, he assaulted, obstructed or hindered a paramedic by punching him on the body contrary to the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005.

He further admitted that on an earlier date, on January 25 last year at Mount Pleasant in Leslie he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive way by running towards two police constables, throwing a mobile telephone at them, striking one of them on the body with the mobile telephone.

Sheriff Williamson decided to defer sentencing McKay until later on this month on January 21.
