Man charged over thefts in St Andrews

A 35-year-old man has been charged following a series of housebreakings in the St Andrews area.

Four houses were broken into on Tuesday, March 3, and a substantial amount of jewellery and other valuables were stolen.

The incidents happened on Berry Place, Learmonth Place, Crawford Gardens and Priory Gardens.

As a result of an extensive investigation carried out by Levenmouth CID, a man has been charged and will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).

Detective Constable Alan Shovlin, from Levenmouth CID, said: “We are delighted that our inquiry has led to an arrest however there is still a considerable amount of valuables, including jewellery and commemorative coins outstanding.

“I would urge anyone who may have information about the location of the outstanding property or who has been offered commemorative coins/ unique jewellery for sale to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3572 of 4 March.”

The investigation was carried out as part of Operation Principle.
