Man in court after twice breaking into Fife shop
and live on Freeview channel 276
Darryl Wright stole cigarettes and alcohol.
He was ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Wright of Portree Avenue, Coatbridge, appeared before Sheriff Alistair Thornton at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Wright (19) admitted that on February 27 and March 19, 2019, he did, on two separate occasions, while acting with another, break into RS McColl, 24 North Street, Glenrothes and steal a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol.

Hide AdHe further admitted committing the offence while being subject to an undertaking to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on March 15, 2019.
The Procurator Fiscal Depute told the court the value of the alcohol stolen was £99.59 and that the accused broke into the shop in the early hours of the morning. She said the accused was identified from CCTV footage.
Wright’s defence agent said: “Mr Wright is 19 years old and was 17 at the time of the offence. He has not been in Kirkcaldy for a substantial period of time and is now living in Coatbridge. He is able to do unpaid work.”

Hide AdSheriff Thornton told the accused: “The court has given serious consideration to a custodial sentence. But given your young age, the age of the offence, the relatively favourable terms of the social work report and the improvements you have made to your life, I have identified an alternative to custody.”
He ordered him to be placed under supervision for 18 months and to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work to be completed in 12 months.
