Man fined £200 for having cannabis at his Kirkcaldy home

A man has been hit with a fine after the discovery of cannabis at his home in Kirkcaldy.

John Stewart, of Melrose Crescent, appeared before Sheriff Alison McKay at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Stewart, 22, admitted that on August 14, 2019 at his home address he had in his possession a controlled drug, cannabis – which is a class B drug – contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Acts 1971.

The court heard that the amount which was discovered was 15 grams.

Sheriff McKay took into consideration that Stewart had already pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

As a result, she said that she would deal with the case by way of a financial penalty.

She fined Stewart to the sum of £200.
