The incident happened at Rabbit Braes yesterday afternoon, with two teenage girls left shaken by the encounter, which they managed to capture on video.

The mother of one of the girls, who did not wish to be named, told the Press that the nude man wore distinctive brown shoes and a black face mask and sunglasses.

She said: “The two girls were having a picnic at Rabbit Braes, on the hill. At about 4.30pm they noticed someone sitting nearby but could only see a bald head.

“Ten minutes went by and they never thought anything of it as he might have been resting after climbing the hill.

“He walked right past them, brazen as anything. He stared at them all the time, never uttered a word. He just casually walked past, no hurry, he just kind of swaggered past.

“One of the girls took a video, which is smart thinking. You can clearly see his boots, he had a black mask, like a cycling snood with a slit for the eyes, and dark sunglasses.

“He walked about ten feet past and realised he was being videod. He stopped, and started walking towards him, which is when the real fear kicked in for the two of them because he knew that he’d been caught on camera.

“As he was walking back towards them, my daughter said ‘Siri, phone mum’, which he heard as he was almost at them by that time, but he turned and bolted to across from where he was sitting, picked up a small bundle of black clothes. He ran down the hill and disappeared into the woods but he fell right before he got into the woods so he’s bound to have scratches.

“As soon as he started running the girls phoned the police.

“It was in broad daylight. There would have been lots of people walking about in the woods. Someone must have seen him.”

“I’m just so angry about it.

“I talk to my daughter about these things all the time and she thinks I’m exaggerating, but I tell her to be on her guard because there are some sick people out there.”

The man in question is said to be medium build, about 5,10.
