Pensioner robbed in Fife town centre

Police in Leven are appealing for information after a robbery in the town centre.

The incident happened on a path between North Street and Nairn Street around 9am on Tuesday.

An unidentified man approached a 79-year-old woman from behind, pushed her to the ground, took a Morrison’s carrier bag containing all of her groceries and ran-off in the direction of William Laing Crescent. The woman was not hurt in the incident.

The man is described as wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, a dark surgical mask, dark trousers and a dark waist length jacket. At the time he was also carrying a dark coloured rucksack.

Detective Inspector Chris Mill of Levenmouth CID said: “This was a terrifying incident which has left the woman involved very shaken.

“We are keen to trace the man responsible as soon as possible and are appealing for the public’s help.

“If you were in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything or the man described please contact police as soon as possible.

“I would also urge anyone who might have dashcam footage of the area or private CCTV to check and come forward with any relevant footage.”
