Police appeal one week after sex attack in Fife town

Police have renewed their appeal for information one week on following a serious sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.

The attack happened in Kelty around 11.15pm on Monday, July, 6.

The woman was found in Limepark Crescent and disclosed to officers she had been attacked shortly before within a car at an unknown location in the area.

Police say the suspect was driving a car and is described as having a tanned complexion, dark hair and a dark beard. They have no further information on the vehicle and officers are appealing for any information.

Detectives and local uniformed officers will carry out a stop and speak tonight with drivers and walkers at various points throughout the town to try to encourage information exactly one week on from the incident.

Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan said: “The incident happened between 10.55pm and 11.15pm, and the victim had previously been in the area of Main Street. I am appealing to members of the public who were in the area who may have seen something which could be significant to us.

“In particular, I would ask taxi drivers and motorists with dash cams to check their footage. It’s possible they have captured images of the vehicle which could prove vital in our enquiries.

"I am also appealing for the driver of a dark coloured car seen in the area of Seafar Drive, Blairadam Crescent and Limepark Crescent about 11.15pm to come forward as they may be a crucial witness.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4470 of July 6, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
