Police have positive lead on Hill Street assault

Police Scotland says it is following a positive lead after appealing for public information following a serious assult in Kirkcaldy.

A 32 year-old man sustained a head injury in the icident, which occured at around 1.50pm on Monday.

Police and ambulance were called to the area just after lunchtime and the man was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment.

A police cordon was put into place at the junction with Whytescauseway for most of the afternoon and police launched an investigation.

Today (Wednesday) a police spokesman said: “He did sustain a serious injury but is on the mend.”

Police Scotland also launched a public appeal for information on Monday.

While no arrests have yet been made, a police spokesman yesterday confirmed officers were now following a “positive line of enquiry.”

He added: “We got a good response from the public but we are still looking for witnesses.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
