Police hunt three people after malicious blaze at Fife golf club

A fire at a Fife golf was started deliberately, police have said.

The blaze at Leslie Golf Club destroyed a building and club equipment.

It happened on Sunday afternoon, and police say three people seen running from the scene may be responsible.

They have appealed for help apprehending them.

The fire happened in a greenkeepers’ store around 2:30pm on Sunday.

Police and firefighters attended the scene, and said the building was extensively damaged.

Inspector Kirk Donnelly from Glenrothes Police said: “This was a despicable and deliberate act by selfish individuals. Thankfully on this occasion no one was injured."

He said there had been a number of wheelie bin fires reported in the area, and the incidents may be connected to the golf club fire.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0669 of July 26, 2020, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
