Police probe suspicious fire at industrial estate

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Kirkcaldy, which saw an industrial unit set ablaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.35am on Monday, 4 May, 2020, officers were called to a report of rubbish on fire in waste ground in Merchant Place, Kirkcaldy.

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“The fire is being treated as suspicious and enquiries have commenced.

“Anyone who may have been in the Merchant Place area just after midnight is asked to call police via 101 if they saw or heard anything suspicious, quoting the reference number 0092 of 4 May 2020."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 12.28am on Monday, May 4 to reports of a fire in the open at Merchant Place, Kirkcaldy.“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where crews extinguished the fire.“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
