A reported serious sexual assault in Anstruther yesterday has prompted a police investigation.

Police Scotland confirmed that the incident, which occurred on Cunzie Street at 1am, involved an 18-year-old woman.

Witnesses reported seeing the area cordoned off by police later in the day.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are currently ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
