Residents wake to find slaughtered chickens outside homes

Residents of a Fife town were shocked to find slaughtered chickens left on their doorsteps, after the animals were stolen from a farm nearby.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a number of chickens were stolen from Easter Cartmore Farm near Lochgelly.

Some residents nearby then woke to find some of the birds had been killed and left in their driveways, gardens, and doorsteps.

One house was also reportedly pelted with eggs.

Police say they are following a positive line of enquiry.

Sergeant Donald Sutherland, of Cowdenbeath Police Station, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we would ask anyone with CCTV footage in the area or who may have information that could assist with our investigation to contact police.”
