Stop and search: the neighbourhoods in Fife where Police Scotland searched the most people last year during lockdown

We may have been staying indoors more than often but it didn’t stop thousands/hundreds of people being stopped and searched in Fife last year

Official figures from Police Scotland show that more than 22,000 people were stopped and searched from April to September.

That was a 2 per cent decrease in comparison to the same period in 2019.

In Fife, 556 people were stopped and searched – a rate of 149 per 100,000 people.

Police found something such as drugs or a weapon in 47 per cent of these incidents, while 53 per cent were negative searches.

Police Scotland said stop and search contributes to the prevention, investigation and detection of crime in communities.

Here we reveal the areas of Fife where the greatest number of stop and search operations were carried out by police forces.
