Two arrested after incident draws heavy police presence

Two people were arrested after an incident which saw police swarm a residential area on Saturday evening.

Witnesses reported seeing a heavy presence of police officers in the Kirkgate and Somerville Street area of Burntisland at the weekend.

Police say that reports of a disturbance led to two arrests – a woman who will appear in court today, and a man who was later released.

A police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 8.55 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2020 police attended a report of a disturbance at a house in Kirkgate, Burntisland.

“A 34-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She is due to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, 25 May, 2020.

“A 37-year-old man was also arrested and he has been released pending further enquiry.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
