CUSTOMERS at Nicola’s Cupcake Cafe in Kinghorn were given a real treat when they came face-to-face with a radio celebrity.
Radio Forth presenter Arlene Stuart was in the village on Thursday promoting her own special cupcakes – cooked up by cafe owner Nicola Surgeon as a special promotion.
Nicola (30), outbid other listeners of the Breakfast show to have Arlene promote her product by offering the presenters 12 cupcakes a month for a year.
And Arlene fulfilled her commitment when she visited the shop in Kinghorn High Street to help flog the sweet treats which had a picture of her face on them!
The radio crew came up with the idea after hearing that Bradley Cooper’s face was being used to promote Haagen-Dazs ice cream, offering Arlene’s help to promote the products of local businesses.
They invited entreprenuers to bid for Arlene to help promote their products and were inundated with offers, including from a burger van and dog food company.
However it was Nicola’s offer of 12 cupcakes a month for the next year which sealed the deal, and last week Arlene and her crew headed to the Royal Burgh to fulfill her commitment.
She said: “We like to visit different areas in our patch and meet our listeners, and this is a fund way to support a local business.”
Nicola, who opened the cafe in June last year said: “It is great to have Arlene here. Over the last week the feedback from people has been amazing.
“Sales of the cakes have been great and lots of people came along to see Arlene on the day.”
