A MAJOR fund-raising drive to ensure the future of Cupar Highland Games took a huge step forward this week with the launch of the organisation’s new calendar.
Featuring scenes of Cupar and district in all seasons, the new calendar will be available from a number of local outlets from this week.
It is hoped that as well as raising funds for the annual event — which for the first time in many years did not take place this summer due to limited funds — the calendar will also raise the profile of the Cupar event.
A spokesperson for the group said that following a Fife Herald appeal for photographs, a number were submitted and a final selection was made by previous Games chieftains.
The winners were Michael Alexander, Ben Haldane, William Mackay, Frank McHardy, Chris Webb, Lauren Sykes, Lesley Geyer Brooks and Norman Brisbane.
The spokesperson added: “The committee would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of our sponsors for their financial support and also all the members of the public who submitted photographs.
“We would also like to thank the local businesses which have agreed to sell the calendar.”
Should this initiative be successful this year, the committee would hope to produce the calendar on an annual basis.
As well as being on sale in local shops, orders can be placed by contacting Games secretary Rosemary Middleton, email RosemaryJMid1506@aol.com
