Thomas and Edith Ritchie, of Glenogil Gardens, Anstruther, celebrated their diamond wedding on August 13.
The couple met in their home city of Glasgow in a cinema queue, and were married in 1955.
Five months later, Thomas was called up for National Service which brought them to Fife, where they have stayed since. “It was the best thing that could have happened,” said Edith. “We loved it from the start.”
The couple, who run a B&B during the summer, have four children – Campbell, Pam, Sue and Russell, and three grandchildren. They celebrated with a quiet dinner at Kilconquhar Castle, and a small get-together. They’re pictured with Councillor Elizabeth Riches, who presented them with flowers on behalf of Fife Council.
