Two new Italian restaurants are set to open in St Andrews – next door to each other.
Italian restaurant chain Prezzo has confirmed it plans to open in South Street before Christmas offering pizza, pasta and grills, while next door work is under way on a branch of another Italian restaurant chain, Tony Macaroni.
The two restaurants will occupy the site of the former Argos store.
Prezzo, who boast around 200 restaurants across the UK, is investing £550,000 in the St Andrews restaurant, and predict that between 15 and 20 full- and part-time jobs will be created.
Prezzo spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We are looking forward to opening our new restaurant in St Andrews.
“We are confident that it will appeal to a wide range of people and be a great addition to the town’s eating out and social scene.”
Tony Macaroni boss Sep Marini said that he expects to open their St Andrews branch next spring, as part of a major expansion across central Scotland. The first Tony Macaroni opened in East Kilbride in 2007 and there are now 10 branches across the country.
Tony Macaroni is linked with the Marini brand of fish and chip shops, and managing director Sep Marini is also joint owner of Nardini’s ice cream parlours with business partner David Equi.
