Drivers warned of planned resurfacing work on A92 in Fife this weekend

Drivers in Fife are being warned to plan their journeys due to resurfacing works on the A92 between Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath this weekend.

The southbound section of the A92 is used by around 20,000 vehicles every day and surface maintenance works are now required.

The works will begin at 7.30pm this Friday, April 22, and will take place over one weekend using 24 hour working, with the resurfacing completed by 6.30am on Monday, April 25.

For the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a contraflow system of traffic management will be in place.

The A92 Lochgelly southbound on-slip will also be closed throughout the weekend for safety with a signed diversion in place for motorists.

Consultation has taken place with local residents and stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Commenting on the project, Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north east representative, said: “The resurfacing has been scheduled to take place over one weekend to minimise delays, however we encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
