Dunfermline bus fire: Firefighters battle blaze on town centre road

Firefighters have been battling an early morning bus fire in the middle of Dunfermline town centre, with the vehicle well alight by the time they arrived.

The blaze broke out as the vehicle turned onto Carnegie Drive, just yards away from the old fire station.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue, said: “We received a call at 7.17am on Carnegie Drive in Dunfemrline to a single story bus which was well alight.

"All persons were accounted for, and we extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets and one main jet.

"We made area safe then handed over to police, and Stagecoach are organising recovery of the vehicle.

“Our appliances left at 8.48am.”

Bus and coach fires increase in Scotland 'must be thoroughly investigated'

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am, officers were called to the Carnegie Drive area of Dunfermline following a report of a bus on fire.

"There were no injuries and emergency services remain at the scene while recovery is ongoing.”
