I watched this film at the weekend and have to say I really enjoyed it. Kristen Wiig leads the cast as Annie, a maid of honour whose life starts crumbling when her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) announces that she is getting married. Hilarious antics ensue when Annie is announced as maid of honour and she goes head to head with Lillian’s new ‘best friend’ Helen. As they compete for Lillian’s affections the more crazy it gets with each of them trying to out do the other! Don’t get me wrong there are moments in this film which are very cringe-worthy and some of the scenes which should be funny are slightly annoying. But overall I thought it was a good story. We can all feel sympathy for Annie who has failed at her cake-making business as well as her love life and seems to keep choosing the wrong men. But the funniest scenes are definitely the ones with Lillian and her bridesmaids particularly the engagement party, the dress fitting and the wedding shower. I won’t divulge any details because I wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie. But I would say ‘Bridesmaids’ is definitely a chick flick and well worth viewing during a night in with the girls.
