The Muppet Christmas Carol

IT’S that time of year again to dig out the Christmas DVDs - and I have to say that ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ is one of my favourites.

It tells the tale of old miser Ebenezer Scrooge who sees the error of his ways after he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future in 19th century London - but in The Muppets’ own inimitable style.

Michael Caine plays the lead character with Kermit the Frog as his long-suffering employee Bob Cratchit. All our other favourite muppets feature in the film including Miss Piggy and Animal.

I think I prefer this adaption to the more sombre film version. It brings humour to the story, particularly through the storytelling by the Great Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat, and you are guaranteed a few laughs throughout. I like the fact that this version is also a musical and features a few catchy tunes including ‘When Love Is Gone’, ‘Marley and Marley’ and ‘One More Sleep ‘til Christmas’.

This is a fab Christmas film and it is one that all the family can enjoy. So if you want to get into the festive spirit I suggest you watch ‘A Muppet Christmas Carol’.
