Rev Christie said: “It has been a great pleasure and privilege to serve the churches and rural community throughout my time in the East Neuk.

“I’ve even gone on board The Reaper and set sail to cast remains upon the waters and dedicated our most recent lifeboat into service. As a Parish minister I have conducted almost 500 funerals and met – and hopefully helped – some wonderful people at very difficult times in their lives.

“On a more celebratory note I have shared in many weddings, baptisms and lots of church and community events.

“A great personal joy has been interaction with children and staff in Anstruther Primary school.

“My belief is that church should always be at the heart of any community to help, care and encourage and meet the deeper spiritual needs people have.

“Endings always bring the opportunity of new beginnings. It is my hope that our community will come to value the church at their heart more and build on the foundations that me and my hard working office bearers have created.

“Rural life has been a challenge but serving has been a great joy.”
