East Wemyss memorial for tragic fishermen unveiled

Over 100 locals turned out for the unveiling of the memorial of the three men who died in last year's fishing accident at East Wemyss.

The memorial was organised by Andrew Cormie, a close friend of all three men, who said the turn out was “fantastic”.

He added: “It was really great to see so many people come along.

Andrew said he hoped the memorial would help people to move forward from the accident.

“The idea is that it’s somewhere for people to come and reflect on what happened.

“It’s a relief to finally have it put in place. My mind has been taken up with it for so long, I now feel as if a great weight has been lifted.

“We had so much help from so many people, like W. Stewart and Sons who gave us a huge donation towards it.

“It looks fantastic and so many people came up and told me how much they love it, so I’m really happy.”
